Is the actual practice of lifting heavy weights.  The training sessions are designed to build strength and power.  Your ultimate goal is to maximize the three major lifts: Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift to achieve a Personal Record in each lift for the performance of one rep max.  Powerlifting develops the neurological system increasing muscle fibers to create strength and power giving you the capability to lift heavy weights.
